Does your current head shot
help or hinder your
You already know first impressions are very important in building relationships in business. So, what creates the first impression most people have of you?
Your clothes? Your hair? Gleaming teeth?
Typically your profile photo – or head shot – on a website, Facebook, LinkedIn, and / or your business card is how people get their first impression of you.
You’ve probably heard that expression “A picture is worth 1000 words.”
If that photo you use is just cropped down from a snapshot, or casually taken by a coworker, partner, or one of those “kijiji” or “craigslist” photographers who offer everything for next to nothing because they don’t actually know what they’re doing – the photo probably says things like: “We don’t take business seriously”, “We don’t pay attention to details”, and ”We don’t care if we’re not professional.”
Is that really the first impression you want people to have of you?
Just having a ‘great camera’ is not enough to get great photos – it’s like a non-cook having a great stove, the meal will be no better. Having a good camera doesn’t mean someone has knowledge and experience with posing or lighting to bring out your best features (while minimizing those you’d rather not show off) – nor do they have the experience to coach you to get the best expression.
